A "Heiermann" is a colloquial name for the 5-Mark piece of the D-Mark, which was made of a silver alloy from 1951 to 1974.

The name probably comes from the seafaring milieu (Heuer = hand money) or from the Yiddish numerical word for "five" (he, hei). The 5-mark piece lost its name with the introduction of the euro coins.
